Belarus within contemporary arts
The Saxon town Bautzen and Saxony’s capitol Dresden became on 28th and 29th October 2011 stages of an interdisciplinary, Trans-European art exhibition.
How do Belarusian artists face up to the actual political situation in their homeland and how do other Europeans imagine culture and life in Belarus? A presentation of contemporary artworks and projects in the Bautzen Steinhaus and the Dresden Scheune for the first time offered a German audience the opportunity to get insights into artistic examinations of this topic. The two events were hosted within the frame of the project “Show Europe – Show Belarus”, in which artists from Belarus, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany and Portugal collaborate and present their works in all abovementioned countries.
